Incident description
The RMT union has announced strike action affecting Avanti West Coast services on some Sundays until Sunday 25 May 2025.
If you need to travel on Sunday 2 February, be sure to check your journey before you travel.
If you booked tickets to travel with Avanti West Coast on a strike day before the industrial action was announced on 17 December, you can now use them to travel on alternative travel dates. Alternatively, if you no longer wish to travel due to the strike action, you can claim a full refund of your prebooked tickets from where you bought them
Sunday 2 February:
Industrial action will go ahead today, 2 February. The timetable will be significantly reduced due to the impact of engineering work between Stafford and Crewe, and between Milton Keynes Central and Rugby on top of industrial action.
Three trains are planned to run per hour to and from London Euston: one to each of Birmingham, Manchester and Preston (with a limited service extending to Glasgow). There will also be one train every other hour between Liverpool and Crewe.
Trains will run during limited hours, with the first train of the day departing London Euston just before 09:00 and the last train of the day from London Euston departing around 17:00.
The significantly reduced timetable today means North Wales, Blackpool and Edinburgh will have no Avanti West Coast services.
Sunday 9 February:
The industrial action is planned to go ahead on Sunday 9 February. Avanti West Coast recommend you travel on days either side of 9 February due to the limited service running. There is also major engineering work taking place between Rugby and Stafford via Nuneaton which will also affect your journey.
Further information will follow for this day once the timetable has been confirmed.
Advice for travel on Sundays from 16 February to 25 May:
For the upcoming strikes, more information will be provided on your ticket options and expected service as soon as possible.
Where can I find more information?
